Deception

duhJeenyus has me questioning everything — wait, who wrote THAT message? Oh no, am I really writing this right now?!

Because women can’t get achievements on their own! /sarcasm

  • http://twitter.com/jennnmarshall jennifer marshall

Oh gurlll, that’s more offensive than crass sex comments.

  • http://twitter.com/TopherXPwns Topher

What an idiot.  For some reason I’ve noticed that Borderlands is actually really popular with the girls on my friends list.  The more the merrier I say!

  • Anonymous

    What a dickhead.

  • http://twitter.com/atheistsam Colin Bell

he finds the idea of women getting gaming achievements surprising, guy would probably have a heart attack if my sisters trophy list

  • http://twitter.com/Super_Widget Joanna

My boyfriend sucks at video games =P

  • http://thestrayworld.com/ Rewarp

Besides the sexism, there’s also the stunningly proper punctuation and capitalization, yet an inability to spell “you” and your”.

  • http://twitter.com/slainbyelf Mark

What if this ( probable ) guy isn’t a guy but a sexist female? Does that mean we’re all sexist for presuming it’s a he but not a she as there seems to be no actual evidence it’s a he? ( not trolling, just thinking ) :P

  • Anonymous

Wow….just wow. Why would he think this would be a good message to send is beyond me….

  • Raichu

This angers me more than most of the other kinds of things I see on here. Sexism in one of its purest forms.

  • http://twitter.com/atheistsam Colin Bell

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen worse

  • Raichu

I’m sure you have. We all have. There’s always something worse.

At least this isn’t downright abusive like some of them are. But the ignorance, condescension and derision in these kinds of comments always get my hackles up.

  • http://twitter.com/atheistsam Colin Bell

you maybe better off saving your anger for the ones that are really asking for it, much better for hackles that way

  • http://www.facebook.com/Sephirajo Johanna Roberts

Look, Colin, may I call you Colin?  You don’t get to decide what offends people.  Especially what upsets a woman when it comes to sexism and sexual harassment.

  • http://facebook.com/deathbydd DeathbyDD

     You poor dear.

  • http://facebook.com/deathbydd DeathbyDD

Women like that aren’t all that rare. In fact, its hard not to be to one extent or another being brought up in most places. Its called internalized oppression and its not really all that rare (unfortunately). I guess sexism from dudes is pretty much the same.

  • http://facebook.com/deathbydd DeathbyDD

Oh, barnacles! I do believe this person has found mah evil-eye-twitch spot. >________________<

“you maybe better off saving your anger for the ones that are really asking for it, much better for hackles that way”

I don’t get it. Do you think you’re helping Raichu by saying that?  How do you imagine she should react to this?

“Even though demonstrated my understanding of the nuances and extremes of these issues, and that I’ve concisely articulated why these examples anger me more than others that may seem superficially worse, I’ll change my attitude because you said I should.”

Is that what you thought would happen?

I get the feeling that you generally mean well, but this was a shitty thing to say.  It’s pretty arrogant.

  • http://facebook.com/deathbydd DeathbyDD

Hey kids! Lets all get along and stuff! ^_______________^

  • http://twitter.com/atheistsam Colin Bell

I’m not telling anyone to do anything, just saying this isn’t worth getting stressed about

  • Raichu

lol, why do you care so much about my hackles?

  • Raichu

What’s going on here isn’t the same as normal trash talking. Also, you pretty much hit the nail on the head when you said “non-sexist”. Sorry, but you don’t get to decide how women respond to sexism.

  • http://twitter.com/atheistsam Colin Bell

Its just opinion, feel free to point out whats wrong about it or ignore it all together. But I’m really not trying to tell anyone what to do, I’m really not that arrogant

I also have no idea what hackles are, but the words sound funny

  • http://twitter.com/sarasakana Sara Sakana

I’m pretty sure you need to sit down and be quiet.

  • http://twitter.com/sarasakana Sara Sakana

    “just thinking”

No, you’re really not. But cool story, bro.

  • http://facebook.com/deathbydd DeathbyDD

I’m not really at all offended by your opinions. I think you mean well.
I also think you picked the wrong website to mansplain how women should react to sexism (should be all websites). The whole ‘let it wash off you like rain’ and ‘turn the other cheek’ is a dandy nugget to allude to when you are both dry and not bleeding from one cheek. ^_~

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=632269219 Jennifer Gatts

I’m sure her boyfriend got them while she was out being a slut or buying more big macs, or somethin’. /sarcasm

  • Em

That’s pretty common. No one my age offline knows the difference between the two and it irks me to no end.

  • Danielle Stingray

Probably is too idiot to get those achievements by himself.

  • Random Person

That would be kind of funny. But given the low probability that a female gamer would attack another female gamer by suggesting that she has to rely on a dude to do so well, it probably wouldn’t make us sexist. This insult would undermine her own skills as a gamer since it implies girls can’t game.

It would be more likely to find that sort of bullying by girls who don’t game than those who do. Even then, she’d probably attack the girls interest in video games than her skill.

  • http://facebook.com/deathbydd DeathbyDD

Hehehehehe. Big Mac sounds like a male hooker name. XD
