I wonder if there’s a status somewhere between “virgin” and “hoe” that’s acceptable to guys.

Some guys have such a shitty real life that they probably resort to gaming to get any kind of achievement feeling. And when they realize they can’t even get satisfied in-game (due to getting pwned by girls like here is the case), they get nuts.
And about the “virgin”-”hoe” thing: you see it also with accusations of “noob” and “hacker”. Here, there is also no good thing in between the two…

Edit: not that I have anything against the fact that games let you achieve something and make you feel good for it (I like that too of course). But when you see messages like the ones above, you just know that some guys take it all way too seriously.

…Why would you play ME3 co-op without working with your team? The entire game is designed specifically so that you have to work with your team.

Often, I play a game online with my daughter.  Which is really funny when I get called a “fat loser virgin whatever” because I’m like “Dang it, will you stop calling my kid here Jesus I already can’t get her to clean her room.”

Yeah I was just gonna say something similar!  ME3 co-op is one of the few gaming communities where I have yet to witness this type of child like behavior.  I felt like in that game especially (plus a few others) is where the best co-op with randoms expierences took place.

Being called a “virgin” in a way that’s clearly intended to be an insult *would* offend me, because it’s virgin-shaming. Being a virgin is not a bad thing. And the fact that men are expected to not be virgins more than women is gross, and the fact that women get made fun of for either having sex or not having it is also gross. All of it is gross.

But yeah, I think guys like this have just about zero real-world experience with women. (At least, I *hope* that is the root of the problem…)

Mischa, very good point.  All these one liners these guys post just seem to be full of anger and a feeling of violence.  I wonder what they really want from women?  All they post is  a verbal fountain of misogynist vomit.    I really  believe that none of them has any clear idea of any sort of positive relationship they could have with a woman or they would be pointing out how women fall short of it.  Criticism implies that a standard has been missed, or not reached.  I’m sure that all the women on this site are open minded and just waiting for you “guys” to drop some knowledge on them.  They want to learn.  Nah, its misleading to assume that these grown men are all somehow alien to women or adolescents. Its a conscious decision they make to be hateful. And its important to realize that there are people like that out there in the real world.

It makes me kind of enraged that it’s apparently possible to be shamed for having no sex and having too much of it in the SAME MESSAGE. Please gentlemen, enlighten us…is there an acceptable amount of sex for us to be having? Or are we just screwed (pun intended) no matter what we do?

I dunno but lemme try to roleplay the mindset here:

“No! Its never okay! Shame on you for having sex (with anyone other than me!) and Shame on you for having sex with me! (because now you’re all used up) And Shame on you for not having sex at all! (because now I’m not getting any and how dare you not fulfill your purpose!)”

Yeah…you are right, of course. I mean I do think it’s a mix of both…

But not only is that super depressing, it’s just…mind-boggling. Why would you choose to treat other people like that? Does it really give you THAT much of a false ego boost, that it’s worth estranging so many people, especially potential partners (since let’s be realistic, most of these guys are straight)?

I do think there were problems with the way they were brought up and socialized. Not that that excuses them from any responsibility in how they treat others – not at all.

The acceptable amount cannot be defined by anyone but the person who chooses to have sex.  You’re probably better off just not caring what some jagoff thinks.  Just asking that question is giving too much validation to the cretins who think that way.  They aren’t worth it at all.
