I’m sorry, can you type that a little louder?

If you’re here because of the recent BBC coverage, HI! Welcome, enjoy your stay. :) If you have anything you’d like to submit for posting, you can email it to us at submissions@fatuglyorslutty.com. But before you do, please report the behaviour to the proper game/service moderators! We’ve heard this over and over from moderators — always report, it helps them do their job.

gtz thanks James Fletcher (@radiojay) for the chance to speak about the issue in his radio documentary: Guns, Girls and Games. Streaming and download available at that link! The perpetually ass-kicking Jenny Haniver of Not in the Kitchen Anymore was also part of the documentary. There is an accompanying text article here, and gtz also had the chance to speak on the topic today on BBC’s World Have Your Say programme.

But hey, why are you really here, right?

It appears that Siicktrosity wasn’t sure if our submitter would hear that last word.

“My 13 year old sister was sitting beside me playing Halo: Reach with me when I received this message! She looks forward to playing halo with me on my 360 each night. I hate that she sees these regularly!”

Regardless of what game she plays, no one of any age should have to put up with such nonsense, especially if it breaks the ToS the sender of the message agreed to.

People are so stupid, as evidenced by “PIMPgodRAMBO” here who is incorrectly quoting the ESRB. The M rating is strictly for the content in the video game. It explicitly states below the ESRB rating that “Online Interactions are not rated by the ESRB.” The game having an “M” rating has nothing to do with this type of communication. Period.

I didn’t really know it was that bad. Knowing female gamers and having server admin has meant i’ve banned a few pricks for abusive behaviour but maybe it’s just that some games attract more mature players than others

Majority of the parasites who abuse and harass others in online gaming are already dead inside, if your going to respond to them just say “umad” or “espanol” possibly even “this affects me how?” eventually if you respond with the same reply enough times they get bored or begin to get very angry and start to rage, at that point you just ignore them and let them deal with the problems they caused.
Pretty much the chat and social features of computer games are used as a second game that you may never win. no real solution for harassment and cyber bullying and racial differences unless server hosts/ISP/Developers start to really punish anything which is considered a insult directed at another player and only way that will happen is when they are pressured for legal reasons, after all its in most EULA and every player abides by it and your details may be passed on to authorities if you make any real life threats etc which has happened a couple of times after a user failed to get a resolution from the admins and reported it to police, eventually got settled in court if i am not mistaken.
well you could stop players harassing and insulting you by simply ignoring them, or when you notice another player being singled out you could defend them and single out the obvious trolls, you will learn to spot and how to react to certain trolls (depends how experienced and low they can sink) also a majority of the time that player does not have the maturity to take anything you say seriously.

buck the shotty? well what an interesting turn of phrase. I feel the same way you do my girlfriends little brother likes to play with me so he uses my xbox to play online when she comes visits me. he’s autistic and doesn’t understand why people are shouting at him even when he doesn’t have a head set on.

What you should do is get the uglies possible picture of a vagina from google images, and send him a link to that. Teaches him something :)

That smilie at the end..is that a sad face or a disconcerted face?
Seems like an odd expression considering the context. Huh.

Good grief… I’d have been sorely tempted to reply “Can you show me your brain first?”

Haha, yeah, it’s like Siicktrocity is immediately disappointed in himself for asking that.

I can’t imagine he could feel very suave. =/

You’ve missed the point… 13 your old – Playing Halo.

    It’s mentioned specifically.

“My 13 year old sister was sitting beside me playing Halo: Reach with me”

She’s 13. She’s playing. Reference to ESRB is appropriate.

RealESikOfTrolls, you need to get laid or something. It’s comments over the internet on a video game. How about instead of worrying you just laugh it off and try living a little?

  • http://facebook.com/deathbydd DeathbyDD

I think his comment was comprehensive. Why would he need to get laid, anyway? Why are you assuming he is not living A-LOT? It IS comments on a video game thats what this site is all about. And if abuse online doesn’t bother you then why are you on here commenting? ^_^
