Sorry to hear that. :( That totally sucks, and is a story that serves as a good example of the work that needs to be done.

To clarify: FUoS staff have been told many times by moderators of various game companies/services to always report, report, report. At the current time, this is the common knowledge of “the best thing to do.” In no way should FUoS, a failblog hobby project, become a method for companies like Microsoft to police their service. That should be part of their own service.

With that said, I think changes are a-comin’ in the online gaming world. The discussions on various game forums and online after the Extra Credits Harassment episode have included developers talking about how they’re working on plans to help their communities. http://penny-arcade.com/patv/episode/harassment

I found the Extra Credits show on harrassment really interesting. Some of the point brought were, interestingly enough, things Valve were also talking about adding to their community. Players that are helpful, nice and just wanna play games with a good attitude are rewarded. They could receive free games simply because they are loyal players. Players that get a lot of complaints about them will still have to pay, perhaps even more, money for their games and there is talk of them losing their mic privlileges or perhaps will have to pay to use. It would be interesting to see if more companies will considering implenting such measures, cause harrassment has gotten disgusting within the gaming community.

You need to work on your reading comprehension.  The submitter didn’t report Lemon because he was spawn camping, the submitter reported him because of the abusive PMs she got in response.

 I’m sorry, but even if the OP *was* being a ‘sore loser’ (although I’d still say there’s nothing wrong with a simple ‘please stop’ message, so long as it wasn’t offensive or rude), that still doesn’t call for a barrage of hateful messages calling her ‘f**** queer” etc in return. As a male gamer I am appalled by what I’ve been reading. While i love it when girls play games online I despise it when men decide to treat them like shit. I’d rather get beaten by skilled players who are female then by a bunch of spawn camping whiny 13 year old children. I apologize on behalf of the male gamers who don’t care about gender so long as everyone has fun. Its a shame that the actions of some have ruined it the name for all.

 You call spawn camping owning? More like BS cheese play used by stat padding chumps. Sir, I may not have the best field record in Reach but damn it every goddamn kill I have in that thing I earned. I’ve forced myself to play hours of Slayer DMR’s and Swat to get good with that fuckin’ gun. I’ve played more of Team Snipers to get good with those too. I constantly push myself to get better at the game and spawn campers ruin that shit. Every bit of the Xp I’ve ever gotten I’ve earned by playing to the best of my abilities and not using cheap tactics and childish play styles. You know how it feels to be beaten in a fighting game by someone who uses one attack the whole time? Yeah it’s the same feeling when people camp spawns. Wanna know what angers me faster? Shit hole players talking trash in lobby then getting mad when I and others outright embarrass them in game. Had one guy start on me about my GT. Killed him eight times and got the game winning kill off him then proceeded to T-bag his shit. Moral of the story. Play fair and be nice or don’t bother playing because there are plenty of gamers with actual moral standards who won’t hesitate to embarrass chump players.
